The International Biodeterioration and Biodegradation Society (IBBS) is pleased to announce the launch of the 2026 IBBS Webinar Series, organised by our Country Representatives (CRs). Each webinar will highlight a key topic within the broad IBBS scope, featuring experts from around the world.

Microbial Corrosion – Key Challenges in Marine, Oil and Gas and Concrete - Available on YouTube

The first in the IBBS series of webinars was on the important topic of microbial corrosion, especially in the marine environment. It was hosted by Prof. Scott Wade of Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia with short talks from:

  • Dr. Muhammad Awais Javed – Marine Microbial Corrosion and fouling
  • Dr. Silvia J. Salgar Chaparro – MIC in Oil and Gas Industries
  • Assoc. Prof. Guangming Jiang – Microbial Corrosion of Concrete

These were followed by a Q&A session.
