Bursaries

The IBBS Council offers bursaries, up to £1,000 each, in support of both undergraduate student projects and postgraduate student research.

Undergraduate applications

Undergraduate applications must be made, on behalf of named students, by IBBS members employed in higher education or research institutes. The research project must be related to either biodeterioration or biodegradation.

Postgraduate applications

Postgraduates must be IBBS members and they may apply for up to £1,000 for research support or £500 to be used to attend a relevant conference.

Eligibility

  • Postgraduate applicants must be members of the Society, in good standing (dues paid), working in higher education or research institutes.
  • Undergraduate applicants must be sponsored by a faculty member who will supervise the applicant.
  • Projects must be related to biodeterioration or biodegradation.
  • Research must be completed either in the applicant’s (i.e., supervisor’s) laboratory, or another laboratory that has agreed to accept the candidate without fees.

There are two proposed start dates each year for IBBS Bursaries:

  • Between 1st July and 1st December
  • Between 2nd December and 30th June

Only applications submitted on this application form,  will be considered.
